LG trademarks 'Folds' and 'Arc'

LG, a multinational electronics company based in Yeoui-dong, has recently submitted a trademark application for foldable and bendable smartphone called “Folds” and “Arc”. The registration request by the LG electronics has been filed to the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), a Dutch site Let’s Go Digital reported last Thursday.

While Samsung has already released the folding phone Samsung Galaxy Fold, but due to display issues, the device was delayed by the company. Other telecoms equipment Huawei has also announced the foldable phone Huawei Mate X, but it has not been released yet.

Although there is no official confirmation regarding the "Folds" and "Arc", however, while looking at the previous registrations for Flex, Foldi, Duplex, and Bendi, LG had previously trademarked several devices with the KIPO, which later became official names, reports Android Community quoting Dutch site's report.

History has been witnessed that smartphone manufacturers not only making a lot of improvements in the industry but also adding new hardware and software features to the upcoming phones. First, there was a simple TFT LCD display, then IPS-LCD, notchless, waterdrop screen, and finally Super AMOLED. Now, smartphone giants are developing foldable devices that are completely different from the past smartphone hardwares.
