LG trademarks 'Folds' and 'Arc' with KIPO, possibly preparing to launch foldable phone

LG trademarks 'Folds' and 'Arc'

LG, a multinational electronics company based in Yeoui-dong, has recently submitted a trademark application for foldable and bendable smartphone called “Folds” and “Arc”. The registration request by the LG electronics has been filed to the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), a Dutch site Let’s Go Digital reported last Thursday.

While Samsung has already released the folding phone Samsung Galaxy Fold, but due to display issues, the device was delayed by the company. Other telecoms equipment Huawei has also announced the foldable phone Huawei Mate X, but it has not been released yet.

Although there is no official confirmation regarding the "Folds" and "Arc", however, while looking at the previous registrations for Flex, Foldi, Duplex, and Bendi, LG had previously trademarked several devices with the KIPO, which later became official names, reports Android Community quoting Dutch site's report.

History has been witnessed that smartphone manufacturers not only making a lot of improvements in the industry but also adding new hardware and software features to the upcoming phones. First, there was a simple TFT LCD display, then IPS-LCD, notchless, waterdrop screen, and finally Super AMOLED. Now, smartphone giants are developing foldable devices that are completely different from the past smartphone hardwares.

LG W10, W30, W30 Pro arrives in India, read highlights, specs & price

LG w-series smartphones

Earlier this month, we reported about the LG W series devices launched by Korean smartphone maker LG. However, it's devices remained a mystery to us, as new series was announced in a nutshell that led our editors to cover the story without mentioning the LG W10, W30, and W30 Pro.

South Korean smartphone manufacturer has officially announced the launch of the W-series phones in the Indian market. If the reports are to be believed, the W-series phones will start entering the Indian market on July 3 via Amazon India.

The handsets will be available for purchase in three variants W10, W30 accompanied by the W30's pro model W30 Pro. The price has been set Rs. 8,999 for the standard model (likely W10) and another variant will be available for purchase starting Rs. 9,999.

The LG W10 and LG W30 smartphones use the Android 9.0 Pie operating system and are powered by MediaTek Helio P22 chipset clocked at 2GHz CPU speed. However, the pro model uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 632 mobile platform, making it the better one compared to W10 and W30.

LG W10 and the LG W30 comes with 3GB/32GB configuration while the pro one sports 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage. 12nm Fin Field-effect transistor (FinFET) makes the device exceptional compared to other LG handsets that were previously launched in the country.

The LG W10 features 13MP + 5MP dual rear camera setup and an 8MP camera on the front, while LG W30 comes with 13MP + 12MP + 2MP triple rear camera setup and 16MP selfie camera. The pro variant includes the same camera setup as the W30, but it uses a 5MP depth sensor instead of 2MP in the W30.

The LG W series is equipped with a 4,000mAh battery and fast charging technology, compatible (maybe) with Vivo's Super FlashCharge 120W.

The devices will be available exclusively via Amazon India. We believe the company could launch only W10 and W30 smartphones in the country starting July 3, but W30 Pro could make the Indian fans to wait a little longer.

LG W10 leaked via Android enterprise website ahead of launch in India

LG W10

Last month, we published about an unnamed device of LG W-series, and till now, the handset remained mysterious for us. But today, the Android enterprise website revealed a phone coming from the same series that is believed to be launching soon in the Indian market as W10.

The South Korean giant LG is preparing to bring W10 to the country with an aggressive price tag. In a previous attempt of selling the most affordable smartphone in the country, a Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has set a world record by selling out millions of Redmi Note 7 units in just two months.

The technical specs appearing on the mentioned website are not sufficient to cover all the key features of the LG W10. However, when it comes to system storage and display sizes, the leak confirms that LG W10 sports 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage size for the base variants. The rest two models are likely to come with 6GB/64GB and 8GB/128GB.

In W10 handset, we'll get 6.2-inches display size with a waterdrop notch on the top, and triple rear camera setup. Running on the Android 9 operating system, the device is backed by a 12nm octa-core processor and MediaTek Helio-powered chipset.

LG Stylo 5 leaked online, here's what we know

LG Stylo 5

It looks the South korean smartphone maker is not only going to bring the W-series phones in the market, but it also looks forward to surface the stylus-based smartphones. @Sudhanshu1414, a phone leaker who previously leaked various devices via his/her twitter handle, has leaked the another phone belonging to LG electronic.

Global certification forum has also teased the pictures of LG Stylo 5 along with the device name, model number, certification date and more - but wait... it's not the official event that could be tuned. However, the forum is well-known to us and we believe, LG could unveil the Stylo 5 phone sooner or later. We believe, the Stylo 5 is the successor of previously launched device called Stylo 4.

May be a coincidence - The phone is quite attractive, which seems to include a well-designed camera setup at its back and a power button like Stylo 4. If leaked photos are actually Stylo 5, then it comes with an earpiece, a USB Type-C, and 3.5mm audio jack at its bottom. The phone includes 3700mAh battery, TFT display-type with Capacitive Touch Screen features, suggests teaser.

The features suggested by the leaker images will be considered legitimate once the company authenticate LG Stylo 5 specs. For now, we have nothing to say more about this handset.
